F+S+T=X: an exhibition formula with three artists at Prata Riverside Village
VIC Detail Image

Initiative promoted by the P’la Arte platform in partnership with VIC Properties open between July 17 and September 1st

Lisbon, July 14, 2020. How to represent the return to the atelier and to work after lockdown? The exhibition F+S+T=X showcases works by Fernão Cruz, Sara Mealha and Thomas Langley on this new reality. But these artists also explore the architectural attributes of this particular place which is also their daily scenery, e.g. Prata Riverside Village, the only building in Portugal designed by Pritzker Prize-winner Renzo Piano. The exhibition, open from July 17 to September 1st, is promoted by the P’la Arte platform in partnership with VIC Properties.

The title of this exhibition bears the names of Fernão Cruz, Sara Mealha and Thomas Langley, that is, their initials. And, just like the title says, the result is much more than a mere display of works or the sum of individual exhibitions. It features many artistic approaches on how this particular reality was experienced, showcasing works both old and new.

Fernão Cruz, 24, uses painting, sculpture and drawing to transform art. He has a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (FBAUL), studied and worked in Barcelona, travelled to China for an artistic residency in 2017 and won the national Young Art award that very same year. About the same age and also holder of a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, Sara Mealha has been exhibiting regularly since 2016, creating images, regardless of the means and formats. This interdisciplinary approach is there in all the work by Thomas Langley, 34, who is inspired by urban culture and children’s imagery to question the very nature of art. He graduated from the Royal Academy Schools London, but lives and works in Lisbon.
